Sizes are nominal — a 2×4 is really 1½ × 3½ inches — but stores price and count them by the nominal size.

How it works

For each row: pieces = quantity × (1 + waste). Linear feet = pieces × length. Board feet = nominal thickness × nominal width × length ÷ 12 × pieces. Cost uses a price per linear foot for each size, editable in the shopping list.

Worked example

20 × 2×4 at 8 ft and 6 × 2×6 at 12 ft with 10% waste rounds up to 22 + 7 = 29 pieces, 260 linear feet and 201.3 board feet.
