  • Driveway sealer (5 gal pails)5 pails

Two thin coats last longer than one thick one. Seal when it's above 50°F with no rain for 24 hours.

How it works

Pails = area × coats ÷ (coverage per pail × surface factor). Surface factors: smooth 1.0, aged 0.8, porous 0.6. Gallons = pails × 5.

Worked example

A 40 × 20 ft smooth driveway with 2 coats and 350 sq ft per pail: 1,600 ÷ 350 = 4.6, so 5 pails (about 22.9 gallons).
