Coverage per bag or pack changes a lot by brand. Check the chart on the package and change the setting to match.
How it works
Pick where you're insulating and your US climate zone to see a suggested R-value. Packs (or bags) = area × R-value ÷ coverage constant, plus waste. We use 1,150 (batts) and 1,200 (blown-in) R·sq ft per pack or bag. Change these in the settings to match your product.
Worked example
500 sq ft of attic in zone 4, R-60, batts:
- Each pack covers 1,150 ÷ 60 = 19 sq ft at R-60
- 500 + 10% = 550 ÷ 19 = 29 packs, about 18.8 in deep

Questions people ask
The US has zones 1 (hot, like south Florida) to 8 (very cold, like northern Alaska). Most of the middle US is zones 4–5.
