How it works

  1. Wall area — enter it directly, or we estimate it as home square feet × 1.25.
  2. Gallons = wall area × 2 coats ÷ 350 sq ft per gallon.
  3. Pro labor = wall area × labor rate × siding multiplier × stories multiplier.
  4. Add paint, supplies and trim, then apply your regional multiplier.

Worked example

A 2,000 sq ft, two-story home with wood siding, trim included, painted by a pro:

  • Wall area ≈ 2,500 sq ft → 15 gallons → paint $675
  • Supplies $375 · Trim $1,250
  • Labor: 2,500 × $2.50 × 1.10 × 1.15 = $7,906
  • Typical ≈ $10,210
