How we got the number
A 10x10 slab is 100 square feet. At 4 inches thick (one third of a foot), it holds about 33 cubic feet of concrete. Divide by 27 and you get about 1.23 cubic yards, and we add 10% for spillage, a slightly uneven base and form bulges.
